Quality Manager (Translation)

Ulatus is the translation division of Crimson Interactive Pvt Ltd, a fast paced language solutions company. The Quality team of Ulatus thrives on knowledge, exceptional delivery of service and being agile. We have an exciting job opportunity for a Quality Manager who has extensive experience managing a team of very able Quality Analysts and Quality Experts. The team takes care of all the client projects received at B2C and B2B level and ensures that the projects are completed as per the quality commitments to the client. They also need to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.


The role requires you to develop and manage complex processes, conduct analysis to identify pain areas and develop solutions to improve overall translation service quality. Working with and managing expats from different nationalities, you’re required to be sensitive to different cultures and ensure your approach to people management is tailored to meet varied needs. Similarly, since the business is spread across the world, understanding clients, their behavior and designing our strategies accordingly will be the key to success. The Manager also provides mentoring and coaching to members within the team as well as to external workforce to ensure growth of the team and the business. Overall, the Manager is responsible for the service delivery of each and every project that is confirmed. You manage quality experts and hold complete accountability for the success of the quality team operations and most importantly the quality of the deliverables of the brand.


Key Responsibilities 

  • The role of the Quality Analyst will entail the following:
  • End-to-End Quality Management of Freelance (FLs) translators and In-house quality experts
  • Checking, tracking, and improving the quality of FLs through regular quality audits
  • Monitoring trends and facilitating decision making related to FL quality
  • Providing feedback, explaining pain areas, checking process adherence, and building resources for FLs: maintaining healthy and professional communication on a regular basis
  • Attending to and resolving FL queries related to translation by approaching bilingual experts from different languages and subject areas
  • Conduct webinar sessions for new and existing FL’s pertaining to the fundamentals of their roles and responsibilities and making them aware of their positives and developmental areas
  • Make sure all the team KPI’s are met and exceeded

Operations Management (through inter- and intra-team co-ordination and communication)

  • Working in collaboration with the Project Management and Client Servicing teams to understand and efficiently handle client concerns, projects, and consultations – end-to-end management to ensure client delight with our deliverable
  • Working in collaboration with the Freelance Acquisition team to hire high-quality FLs for different services, languages and projects
  • Working in collaboration with the Editing division (Enago) for English language related quality management
  • Working on several developmental activities and projects for internal and external clients
  • Working on data, analyses, and reports on a monthly, yearly and on need based situation


Mandatory Work Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of full-time experience
  • PhD in any subject area
  • Strong people and team management
  • Experience managing large/mid-size team
  • Problem-solving and Risk Management skills
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English (near-native) and the ability to explain language concepts to a layperson
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate urgency and drive processes independently
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong logical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (primarily Excel and Word)
  • Good online search and information verification skills

Preferred Skills and Achievements: 

  • Experience in publishing of scholarly papers in academic journals
  • Ability to follow a publication’s guidelines (style manual, handbook, etc.)
  • Ability and inclination to take on responsibilities beyond defined role
  • Knowledge of the STEM industry
